Simple and effective

I have been using Todo for almost a month. I’m using it to keep track on the things I need to get done at work. I have to submit a TPS report every Friday, and Todo makes that simple. All I have to do is select a date range from the in-app calendar, select the items that were completed during that range, and then copy/paste them. Perfect. The only thing that would make it better is if it changed active voice to passive voice for me. e.g. “Add new SSL termination to load balancer” -> “Added new SSL termination to load balancer”. I use Dropbox to sync my tasks between my devices. Unfortunately, Todo does not create its data store in the “/Apps/“ directory within Dropbox and there is a crashing bug in the current version when trying to change the Dropbox location. Support has confirmed the bug and said a new version has been submitted to Apple. So I can hopefully fix that small quibble soon. I also had to contact support to figure out how to get back to my list of uncompleted tasks after selecting a date range. Turns out I was overlooking a simple “x” to clear the filter. Support was quick, patient, and helpful though. I’m deducting one star for the crash and non-standard Dropbox storage location. However, Dropbox support wouldn’t even be an issue for me if it supported the new iCloud Drive protocol. But I understand that is very new and will take them at least some time to catch up. Update 2015-04-15: this thing has flat out stopped launching. It doesn’t log anything to the system logs. It just bounces the icon a few times, stops, and then right clicking the icon shows the application is not responding. So, basically, it’s useless. I’m going to look for something else. This sort of application is not complicated; I don’t know how it is this messed up.

Bad sync

iCloud sync rarely works.

Still Waiting for iCloud… Again

Bug fixes? That’s it? Dropbox syncing returned, but not iCloud. I guess that is why “Bug fixes” is all that is written about this update. At this point I would say it if false advertising to tout that ToDo syncs using iCloud. Demoted another star. I have been using Todo for a few years. It’s been pretty good. The issues I have had have been with syncing and found that iCloud was best for doing that. I too upgarded to Yosemite and was greatly disappointed after finding out iCloud was not working and I had to go back to Dropbox. Now, I am finding it ridiculous that no update has been provided to address Yosemite. I did see a post on the Appigo forums indicating it would be two weeks, but that time has come and gone. Some has dropped the ball and apparently it is still rolling around on the floor.

iCloud Sync now works for me

My iCloud sync now works fine with the new 3.0.6 release.

Pretty Solid but Consitant Sync Issues

I’ve been playing with this app for a number of years, now, and there are a lot of things that I like and just a few that I don’t. Unfortunately, the things that I don’t like have been enough of a pain that I have migrated to Mac Reminders. At the end of the day, I got tired of looking at my mobile device to see that I had 135 tasks with 7 overdue and then looking at my iMac to see that I have 133 tasks with 5 overdue. It should be noted that I was relying on Dropbox for my sync repository and I have not tried the Pro or Cloud service. In no specific order, Pros: 1) Turning tasks into Projects or Checklists. 2) User defined parameters create a “Focus List” which allows you to see those things you’ve deemed important. 3) Color Coding. 4) Solid Customer service. Cons: 1) Consistant sync issues between devices. 3) Color Coding and Task List Arrangement does not transfer from device to device. 4) Sometimes modifying a task involves more effor than it should.

Fed up

I’ve been using Todo for several years. Every so often, it just stops syncing. The program encourages you to “upgrade” to the latest and greatest version, but personally, I find all the different versions of this app—Todo 8, Todo 6, Todo Pro, Todo Cloud — confusing and frustrating. I don’t want to pay money just to sync, which you must do if you use Todo Cloud. This app is a far cry from “it just works.”

My Main Desktop App!

I spend a lot of time at my Mac, and Todo is just great for helping me keep track of tasks quickly and easily. I love using the Todo Cloud service as well, to keep all my tasks and lists synced with my iPhone.

I’ve changed my mind

UPDATED REVIEW::: The syncing issue between devices (iPhone, iPad mini and laptop) has caused me to downgrade my review from four stars to two. If I update Todo on my laptop, it should automatically apply to my other devices. At first, it worked perfectly, but not any longer. If I check an item on my list as complete on my laptop, it should appear as complete on my iphone and ipad mini, but that’s not happening, so it’s back to Wunderlist for me. They offer instant syncing – automatically. ORIGINAL REVIEW:::: Similar to Wunderlist but better. Finally multi repeating/alert options! Remind me every other day, every 2 days, etc. Easily input tasks, connect with Dropbox, view on mobile device or computer. Todo works for keeping up with class assignments, due dates — you name it. What’s missing? Adding files and/or photos is not available nor connecting with Evernote.

Sadly iCloud synch just hasn’t worked for too long

UPDATED - Sorry, but iCloud synch has not worked for too long. I still like this in principle - but it just doesn’t work. OLD REVIEW: This is the To Do list app that Ive been looking for. Its not simply a set of lists and its not some complex project planning utility. Its fast and easy enough to use to compete with the immediacy of a piece of paper, with the added benefits that you cant lose it, your lists are nice and organized and you can set reminders. I like the flexibility of its three levels of complexity - Normal Tasks, Checklists (for tasks that have a simple set of subtasks) and Projects (for slightly more complex tasks that have a set of subtasks that each require their own timescales). You can easily switch between these as your understanding of a task grows. There are various ways of orgainizing your tasks - for instance, putting them into lists, assigning tags (essentially keywords) and assigning Contexts. On the whole this degree of flexibility is right - but personally I think Contexts are more confusing than theyre worth. Contexts are supposed to help you group unrelated tasks that could be carried out together - errands might be a Context, for instance - but they dont seem to do anything that cant be done with keywords and the extra dimension leads to confusion when filtering. The area where the app could be most improved is reminders. At the moment your only option is to set a message to appear on screen at a particular time. This is not especially helpful - and there should be more options such as sending an email or some reminder on the system that is less easy to miss. Having said that, there is a nice, automatically generated, flexible Focus list that you can have show tasks that are due within a certain period of time (amongst other parameters), so, provided you check this regularly, the lack of a good reminder system is not such a big deal. There are other smaller issues - such as the fact that it keeps de-expanding tasks so you cant see the subtasks; some buttons are a bit small (like the button to expand tasks to show subtasks!) - but overall this is a quality app, that I would recommend to anyone looking for a flexible way of maintaining their To Do lists.

Still the best organizer for me

I have used Todo since the beginning, and it’s still my favorite organizer. From time to time, I try other GTD apps, but I always come back to Todo. Also, Todo has changed over the years with new features, sharing, better graphics, and cloud backup. The tech support is excellent; I never wait more than 24 hours (Thanks Jeff!). I am always discovering new things that I can do with Todo. I don’t use syncing (I use different lists for different devices), so I cannot vouch for that. I think Todo is a much better GTD app than the ratings indicate. I have used it for a long time on my laptop, and I am happy with it. I don’t sync. All the negative reviews are because of syncing problems. If you want syncing, I recommend Todo Cloud, and pay the subscription charge.. I still think it is the best desktop GTD app for the price.

I use it everyday and love it.

I haven’t found another product that works as well for my need as ToDo! I love it!

I want to stay on board, but sync issues are pushing me out

It’s a good app as a stand alone on a single device, but the main reason I bought it was to have it across all my platforms communicating with one another. So it worked great for a while, but then the syncing with iCloud stopped working. I tried syncing with Dropbox, but that doesn’t work either. ToDo’s support solution was to move to ToDo Cloud, or upgrade to the newer version ToDo 8. I refuse to subscribe to ToDo Cloud just so I can sync with my other devices and I already bought the app for my desktop - and also for my iOs devices - so I don’t really think I should have to buy it two more times just so it works as advertised. I’m seeking greener pastures elsewhere now.

Best to do app

I have tried virtually all of them, and ToDo is still the best. I use it on Mac desktop, laptop, iphone, Ipad and on my PC using the web version and everything syncs seamlessly. I have ToDo Pro which is $19.99 a year - a small price to pay compared to others that don’t work as well. I love the flexibility to create a checklist task, or a project task with subtasks. I use Wunderlist too because of the ability to clip web articles, and I find Wunderlist better for sharing tasks with others or grocery lists. And I like Workflowy for that 50,000 mile view of all of the details of my life. But ToDo is my workhorse that helps me get everything done.

Crashes a dozen times a day since El Capitan

Evidentially the developers have not updated this since April `15. That explains why it’s a Crash-O-Matic program! I’d suggest to look at the other choices first.

Great app, need to fix stability in El Capitan

This is a great app - synching with flexible back-end database. The only issue is stability has been a problem since Yosemite / El Capitan. Crashes every now and then. Appigo - please fix the bugs.

Program Totally Unstable Under El Capitan

I love the program, but since updating to El Capitan it is non functional. I have become very dependent upon it, and now that it refuses to stay up I am very disappointed. Net: When it is operational (pre El Capitan): 5 stars; Post El Capitan 1 star; Average score 3 stars I am now just using it on my iPad. Waiting for a fix to the desktop version.

What are they talking about?

Ive seen several of these reviews that are 1 and 2 stars. Something’s got to be up with that. I use Todo everyday. I haven’t had 1 single glitch or problem. Nothing. I’m not a shill for ToDo, but it sounds like others may be shills for somebody else. Am I missing something here? I put so much in my ToDo and depend on it so heavily, and if I had problems or glitches I would defanately complain. But it’s been stable and tight for me. I love it.

Will not start

The application will not start on 10.7. I have tried to request support using the site and it does not work at all. I think i wasted $15.

The sync issues kill it

As others have mentioned, the app itself, alone on a single device is good. But we’re moving into 2016; who uses just one device? An ever dwindling few. When I first got Todo, the syncing worked. I used it with Dropbox. And then that didn’t work. I used it with iCloud…never worked. As much as it chaffed me, I subscribed to their pro service to sync across devices. It worked. But an entire subscription for the sole purpose of holding a single little file? Synching across devices is being done by other apps with a variety of services—but I paid for this app based on the claim that I could use it with my own cloud service, and I don’t want to go pay for another one. To make matters worse, I actually paid for this app AGAIN for an update, hoping it would solve the sync problem. It did not. So, I’ve now paid for this app twice, and I haven’t even gotten what I was promised the first time. How’s that saying go? Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. Indeed, I am filled with shame.

Great app, except for constant crashes!

Crashes multiple times within a session.
